Finding new MP3 players and iPods has basically become impossible in regular stores, at least here in Italy. Amazon online maybe still has some models available, but they're mostly refurbished or old stock, and the prices are ridiculous. If you really want a portable player, honestly most people these days just use their smartphone, which is infinitely more practical than those MP3 players from 2010. If you really want one retro for your collection, try secondhand sites like eBay or Vinted, you can find everything there.

Finding new MP3 players and iPods is really tough these days. Amazon probably remains your best option if you're looking for new stuff, even though the selection is super limited and often they're just old models gathering dust in warehouses. Stores like Mediaworld or Expert might have something, but you'd need to contact them first because availability is basically non-existent - most physical stores stopped ordering them years ago. eBay and Subito are platforms where you can find tons of used stuff, if you don't mind buying secondhand.

Honestly, the question is whether you're actually looking for a new MP3 player or a used one? Because if you're after new stuff the situation's pretty dire - basically no big stores produce or sell them anymore. iPods have been taken off the market almost completely, except for maybe finding some old model on Amazon at ridiculous prices. If you're willing to buy used or refurbished instead, then you've got way more options among online marketplaces.

It also depends on what kind of player you need - one with a screen, audio-only, storage capacity? And how much are you looking to spend? Because if you tell me more about what you're after I might be able to give you more specific advice on where to look. Most people these days use their phone for music, so MP3 players and iPods have kind of become a niche thing at this point.

giorgio.giordano asker I'm looking for a used one, preferably a classic iPod. Max budget is 150 euros, I mainly need it to listen to audiobooks during breaks at work.

If you really need an MP3 player, eBay is your best bet because you can find both new and used ones there, and the selection is way wider compared to the usual retailers 📻. A few years ago I was looking for an old iPod Nano for nostalgia (wanted to bring it to the gaming table, weird I know 😅) and the only place where I found a decent one was right there, with reasonable prices anyway. Amazon does have refurbished stuff, but it's more limited and often costs more too. Physical stores don't stock them anymore, at least not around here.

You won't find much around, honestly. MP3 players have basically disappeared from regular stores. You might still find some used ones on Amazon or eBay, and certain sites that specialize in vintage electronics still have them, but if you walk into a normal physical store nowadays there's no trace of them. The iPod's been out of production for years, so if you're looking for something that actually works you basically have to rely on the used market.
