I'm seeing that some cities like São Paulo and Rio are investing in electric buses, but the price is absurd compared to conventional ones. Is it really worth it for the city government to spend that much, or is it just marketing?
Battery technology is still expensive because demand is low and few manufacturers produce at scale in Brazil, but the city government makes that back in about 5-10 years through fuel savings and much lower maintenance costs (electric motors are less complex). It's definitely worth it, but people want to see results fast and end up seeing it as unnecessary spending.
