I'm trying to book a Paris-Barcelona flight for August and the prices have gone absolutely crazy. Two years ago it was half the price. Is it because of inflation, fuel costs, or are the airlines just taking advantage?
It's a mix of several things. Fuel prices went up, airlines are running fewer flights so there are fewer seats available, and clearly they're taking advantage to hike prices when demand is strong (especially in August). Inflation plays a role too but honestly it's mostly supply and demand. Try looking for September or weekday flights, that can make a real difference.
