Bananas are a perishable product, so their prices fluctuate pretty often depending on the harvest, logistics, and demand. If the price dropped, it's most likely either a good harvest in the main producing countries or a drop in demand, and stores are trying to move them faster. There's not much point in stocking up - even in the fridge they won't last long and will start to darken, and the ones you tuck away in the back will just go bad. Better to just enjoy the low price while it lasts, and when they get more expensive again (and they will), you'll go back to buying them normally.
