the band just took some time for other projects. the guys all had their individual stuff going on, and not everyone was in full-throttle mode all the time. plus, trying to work together creatively when the chemistry isn't clicking leads to worse results - they probably figured they could skip that.

but deichkind are active again as of 2026, so the break is over now. from what i've picked up, there weren't any big dramatic reasons or conflicts behind it, just kind of letting off steam after so many years in the business. band breaks are pretty normal anyway, some do it more often. with hip-hop crews it's like that sometimes - everyone does their solo thing and then you get back together eventually when it feels right.

Bands just need room to breathe, and with Deichkind that was probably especially important because the guys have such intense energy. When you're constantly running at full throttle, you burn out eventually - and that goes for artists just as much as anyone else. The break was probably less of a "temporary dissolution" and more of a necessary reset to actually want to work on projects together again.

What the others already mentioned is obviously true - everyone had their own stuff going on. But I think the bigger point is that creative processes just need time when it comes to new ideas. You can't recycle the same album every two years and expect it to sound fresh. When you've been away for a while, you can come back with different input - hear new sounds, have new experiences. That's what makes the difference in the end between "okay, another album" and "wow, that's something new."
