Why did "Imaginarium" become less popular than before?
A few years ago this game was at every party, but now nobody suggests it. Maybe new games pushed it out? Or am I missing something?

I agree with what was already pointed out above - the game definitely didn't completely disappear, but its peak popularity has passed. From my experience, this is more like a natural cycle for any board game. "Imaginarium" was a wild hit five, seven years ago, when everyone was just getting into the board game craze, and now the market has just diversified. There are so many new games coming out every month that something old inevitably takes a back seat. Especially if a game requires a certain atmosphere and a specific group of people who are in the mood for it.
Plus, I notice the game relies on associations and imagination - and that gets old fast if you're playing a lot. After a dozen rounds, the cards start repeating in your head 😅 People are drawn to something new, with new mechanics. "Munchkin" or "Carcassonne" were also riding the wave back then, and then went down. It doesn't mean "Imaginarium" is bad - it's just not as relevant in 2026 anymore. If you've got a copy at home, go ahead and play it whenever you need a light party game. In a tight circle of friends who know it, it always goes over well.
To be honest, I haven't noticed such a sharp drop in popularity - maybe it just depends on the company and the age of the players? In my circle, people still pull it out from time to time, especially when you need a game for a mixed-age group, but yeah, in 2026 a lot of competitors appeared in the party games genre. Was this game popular in your circles - at parties with adults or at kids' birthday parties?
I don't really agree that the game is completely dead either. In 2026, among my friends and acquaintances it still shows up pretty regularly at parties, though maybe not as often as it did like five years ago. I think what happened is just a natural shift in waves of interest - at some point everyone downloaded "Koala," then there was hype around "Activity," and then some board games with more complex mechanics. But "Imaginarium" is still a great option for a group that doesn't want to think too hard, so I think it just became one of the classic games rather than a trend.
