The delays between anime seasons are unfortunately pretty common, especially for quality productions. MAPPA is managing a huge catalog at the same time (Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan, etc.) and animation studios are regularly overloaded, so it's not just them dragging their feet 😅 Season 2 also had complex production issues with changes to the creative team. It's frustrating to wait but unfortunately it's become the norm in the industry.

It's normal for it to take time, but MAPPA is really swamped! They're working on several big projects at the same time and the animation quality they deliver requires tons of resources and planning. Between that and production schedules getting longer everywhere in the anime industry, it's not surprising you're waiting so long. I know it's frustrating, but honestly it's better to wait and get something good than to get something rushed!
