"Frieren" is really nice, but personally I felt the series spent way too much time on episodes that just drag on - not every side story needed to be that long. That said, I'd definitely highlight "Dandadan," it just has the right balance between funny and emotional without slipping into schmaltz. If you're still looking for something with really solid visuals, it's worth checking out some of the current action titles - some of them have animation on a level I honestly wouldn't have expected two or three years ago.

I don't watch that much anime, but a couple still hit for me. "Dandadan" has this awesome mix of action, comedy, and genuine feels - really well done entertainment-wise. "Solo Leveling" looks visually stunning if dark fantasy with a strong protagonist appeals to you. Otherwise it's worth checking what's getting hyped on the bigger platforms right now - taste is just too different to say flat out what'll work for you.

For newer stuff, I'd recommend "Frieren" if you haven't seen it yet - the series has a completely different pacing than typical action anime, focusing more on the characters and their stories after the big adventure. Also visually made to a pretty high standard.

Heads up: just because something's airing or aired recently doesn't automatically make it good - a lot of series are hype-driven and get exhausting after 3-4 episodes. Better to check reviews upfront to see if the story stays consistent instead of going in blind.

The thing with a lot of 2025/2026 series is they either lean too hard on fanservice or totally mess up the pacing. "Dandadan" got lucky that the balance worked out, but that's rare. If you're really into character-driven stuff, check out finished ones like "Vinland Saga" or "Jujutsu Kaisen" instead - those are fully told and not chopped up like some current series that are basically just set up for season cliffhangers.

General advice: watch the first 2-3 episodes and then actually read what people are saying in forums about whether it holds up or fizzles out. Right now nothing spectacular has actually come out that everyone's talking about - more just a mix of decent stuff. So don't expect too much and just test it out yourself to see what clicks with you.
