If the flickering is still there after changing the bulb, it's probably an electrical issue - either poor contact in the socket, a loose cable, or a faulty ballast. When you changed the bulb, did you also check whether the socket is clean and the contacts are sitting properly? With modern Golfs, moisture problems inside the headlight itself can also cause contact issues, so I'd take a look to see if water is getting in anywhere.

Michael1995 asker Yeah, the socket was clean. But I'll check if there's moisture in the headlight - that could be it.

Don't rush to the workshop first - check the socket yourself. Unscrew the new bulb again and see if the contacts in the socket are clean and not oxidized. Sometimes a little polishing with sandpaper does the trick. If that doesn't help, there could be a loose connection in the headlight connector itself, which you can reach from the back - just take it out and push it back in firmly. That often fixes flickering issues like this.
