Did you check if your head unit is making good contact in the dash, or could something be loose back there? Yeah, this is almost always a grounding issue or a sketchy connection with the aftermarket unit itself. When you turn the wheel hard, there's a lot of movement in the steering column and dashboard area, and if your ground wire isn't properly secured or if the harness connector isn't seated all the way, you'll get these dropouts. I'd pop the dash apart and make sure the head unit is fully clicked in, check that ground wire (it should go to bare metal, not paint), and wiggle the wiring harness while someone listens to see if you can recreate the cutout.

Steering wheel movements can actually flex the dash and chassis just enough to stress whatever connection point is weakest - if your head unit's power wire or ground wire runs near the steering column harness, that physical movement might be creating intermittent contact. Since you installed it yourself six months ago, I'd specifically check whether the ground wire is bolted to bare metal (not painted) and if the power wire is routed away from moving parts like the column; sometimes people run them right along the steering mechanism without realizing it.

The most likely culprit is your ground wire running too close to something that moves or flexes when you turn the wheel. I dealt with this exact problem when i swapped in a head unit in my buddy's truck a few years back - every time he'd crank the wheel all the way, the deck would cut out for like two seconds. turns out the ground cable was looped near the steering column and when the shaft twisted, it was creating intermittent contact issues.

what you want to do is trace your ground wire from the head unit all the way to where it bolts to the chassis. make sure it's not running parallel to your steering column, power steering lines, or anything else that physically moves when you turn. if it is, reroute it so there's clearance and it's not getting flexed every time you lock the wheel. also check that the bolt where your ground connects is actually making solid metal-to-metal contact - sometimes paint or corrosion gets in there and ruins the whole thing. A lot of people just wrap the ground around a random bolt without scraping away that paint first and wonder why they've got noise issues.

The other thing to verify is whether your power wire is running clean to a good battery connection, not through some relay or fuse block that might have a loose pin. But honestly if it only happens when you turn, it's almost certainly movement-related. spend like ten minutes tracing both your power and ground and you'll probably spot it right away.
