Why does my wireless keyboard keep disconnecting?

My Logitech MX Keys has been dropping connection every few minutes lately, even though it's only about 6 feet from my laptop. The batteries are fresh and I've tried re-pairing it multiple times. It worked fine for the first year, so I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue or something I can fix in software.
