My friends keep talking about this series, like the third season just came out. I have no idea what's going on in it. Should I start with the second season or do I have to start from the first one?
You definitely need to watch from the first season, otherwise you won't understand who's who at all - there's only 8 episodes total, so it's not that long. The popularity makes sense: Henry Cavill is a great actor playing Geralt, awesome graphics, interesting characters, plus there's a huge fanbase from Sapkowski's books. I started watching it myself half a year ago when I had free weekends between clients, and now I'm waiting for new seasons like they're gifts. I'd recommend starting it, especially if your friends are already discussing all the details - at least you'll have something to talk about.
I started with the second season and regretted it - you really do get lost in the characters and plot. The first season is short, only eight episodes, so it's not scary to spend an evening or two on it. Honestly, the series is popular not just because of the actors, but also because there's actually an interesting world there and the characters are really well developed - I actually got distracted from my cats in 2025 when I was watching. Start with the first one, you won't regret it.
