The Poppy War is actually more of a trilogy where you can't really pick out individual books easily - but if you're looking for that "can't stop reading" feeling, I'd recommend Gideon the Ninth or The Blade Itself. Both have that dark, intense vibe and you really devour them in one go. Priory of the Orange Tree is also super gripping if you're more into the epic fantasy sound.
Do you prefer something with a continuous story or are you also fine with individual stories set in the same world?
With The Poppy War, it's true that the trilogy is connected, but honestly I think a lot of people find the first two books significantly stronger than the third - so if you realize after the first read that the series isn't doing it for you anymore, at least you have a decent stopping point.
If you're more into character-driven binge-reading, books like "The City of Brass" by S.A. Chakraborty might work too, where the world is huge but the individual books are still pretty self-contained.
