Amazon Echo vs Google Home for the kitchen, which is better in 2026?

I have an Echo in my kitchen and honestly, it works pretty well for what I need. I mainly use it for timers, converting measurements, and playing music while I cook. The microphone picks up well from any corner of the kitchen, even with the range hood running. Integration with Alexa to control lights and my smart oven is pretty straightforward, though sometimes it takes a second to respond if you've got a lot of devices connected.

Google Home has better natural language processing, that's clear. It understands weirder questions or more complex context better. If you like doing searches while cooking like "how long does it take to boil an egg?" or stuff like that, Google gives you more useful answers right away. But in my opinion, for pure cooking use, the difference isn't that big in 2026. Both do the basics perfectly.

My recommendation: if you already have more Amazon devices, go for Echo, it's cheaper and the integration is smoother. If you use Google a lot on your phone and computer, then Home makes sense. For cooking specifically, what matters is a good quality microphone and understanding well in a noisy environment, and both do that decently now. I'd stick with what I have, it's not worth switching just for this.
