You don't need to think you *need* a high-end pedal to record properly at home - it's really your audio interface and mics that make the difference 🎸 Boss and Zoom make solid gear, but a budget Zoom or even free plugins will give you results that are pretty much the same if you've got a decent audio setup behind it. Personally I'd say if your budget is tight, it's better to invest in a decent USB interface and monitoring speakers than to blow it all on a premium pedal.

It's really your whole chain that matters! A Boss or Zoom pedal can definitely improve your sound, but if you've got a crappy audio interface or terrible mics, it won't change anything. What I'd say is it really depends on what you want to do - if you're working with electric guitar and complex effects, yeah a good pedal helps! But for basic home recording, honestly you can start with something cheaper and invest in a decent interface first.
