Are brushless drill motors really worth the extra cost?

I'm looking to upgrade my old brushed drill from like 2015 and I keep seeing brushless models everywhere now. They're definitely pricier but I only use my tools for occasional weekend projects around the house. Would the brushless actually make a noticeable difference for me, or am I just paying extra for something I don't really need?

For occasional weekend projects, a brushed drill from 2015 probably still does the job fine, so going brushless mainly buys you longer runtime between charges, less maintenance, and a bit more power if you ever need it - but you're not getting a game-changer for casual use. The real question is whether your current drill is actually limiting you. Does it struggle with the projects you do, or die on you mid-job? If you're happy with how it performs, that extra cost might just be nice-to-haves rather than must-haves. What kind of projects are you typically tackling, and is there something specific about your old drill that's frustrating you?

joshua91 asker Mostly basic stuff - hanging shelves, assembling furniture, occasional deck work. No real frustrations, just wanted to check if I'm missing out. Thanks for the reality check.
