The key is getting one with a wider band and a secure locking mechanism rather than just relying on friction. I've had good luck with straps that have adjustable velcro or a proper clasp system - they stay put during movement without cutting off circulation. Most of the cheaper ones fail because the band is too narrow and rides up your arm when you're active, so spending a bit more on something with wider padding and a real grip system makes a huge difference. The trick is also making sure it's snug enough to be secure but loose enough that you can slide a finger under it when adjusted, otherwise it gets uncomfortable after a few hours.
