Is it bad luck if you drop your phone and the screen cracks?

master68 RU 📗 Student 👁 75 ⚑ Report Omens & Superstitions

Yesterday I dropped my iPhone and it fell on the floor - the screen protector cracked. My friend immediately said it's a bad sign. I don't really believe in superstitions, but now I'm a bit nervous. Is there actually any superstitious interpretation of this kind of thing?

Cracked glass is just glass that cracked from impact, not a sign of fate. Omens only work if you believe in them and look for confirmation, and you'll always find confirmation: phone falls - bad luck coming, phone doesn't fall - good luck coming. Protective glass is literally made to shatter instead of your actual screen - it's mechanical protection, not magical. If you're worried, just replace it with a new one - it costs next to nothing and you'll feel better.

Don't get hung up on your friend - if a cracked screen was bad luck, half of humanity wouldn't exist by now. It's just physics, really: the phone fell, the glass isn't designed to handle impacts, so it cracked. Replace the screen protector, forget about the superstitions, and move on.
