But I'm pretty pragmatic about it: if you spend more than 20 hours a week in noisy environments (buses, office, streets), noise-canceling headphones are definitely worth it, because they improve your quality of life and you don't need to crank the volume up to 85 dB and damage your hearing. Now, if you just want something cool to listen to music at home or on the street once in a while, any decent headphones with good sound will do the trick without spending on noise-canceling technology.

It really depends on how you'll use them, man. Are you gonna use them mainly for listening to music, podcasts, or do you actually need to block out street noise and traffic? Because if it's just for listening to good sound while you're biking or chilling, some headphones with good battery life will do the job without you having to drop cash on noise cancellation.
