I drive a 2022 VW Golf and I noticed a few drops of brake fluid under the car. The brakes still feel normal, but I'm not sure if I can still drive with it or if I need to get to a mechanic right away. How much longer can I drive like this?
This isn't harmless and you shouldn't drive around with it for long. Brake fluid is leaking because there's a leak somewhere - it could be a porous line or a faulty cylinder - and over time you lose brake fluid, which reduces your braking power. As long as your brakes feel normal, you still have some safety margin, but it keeps getting smaller. Make an appointment at the shop, drive defensively until then, and avoid longer highway drives or mountain roads - and if you notice your braking power dropping noticeably, pull over and get it towed.
I'd take it seriously, even if the brakes still feel okay - brake fluid loses effectiveness over time when air gets in, and then the pedal can suddenly go soft or in the worst case fail completely. Something similar happened to me, I drove to the shop (carefully, not on the highway), and it turned out to be just a leaky hose connection - fixed quickly. But I'd only drive those few kilometers to the mechanic, not go around driving every day and hope it gets better. What's the situation like - is it dripping while you're driving or only when the car's parked?
