Don't just assume it's the battery without checking the capacitor first - a bad one can absolutely wreck your electrical system with weird symptoms like hard starts, stalling at idle, or lights dimming out of nowhere. I've seen plenty of bikes act possessed when a capacitor starts failing, because it's supposed to smooth out voltage spikes from the ignition system and without it working properly, everything downstream gets unstable. The capacitor sits right there in the charging circuit, so it fails silently until suddenly your bike won't behave. worth swapping one out if you're chasing gremlins and can't find an obvious culprit.

A bad capacitor will absolutely cause those gremlins, and the tricky part is that a motorcycle's charging system can mask the problem for a while - you might think your battery is failing when really the capacitor isn't smoothing out the voltage spikes anymore. What catches people off guard is that some capacitors fail intermittently, so your bike runs fine one day and won't start the next, which sends you down rabbit holes checking battery terminals and alternator output. If you're experiencing electrical weirdness that doesn't fit a clear pattern, swap the capacitor before you spend money on a full electrical diagnostic - they're cheap and easy to replace on most bikes.
