Contact Sony support directly with your receipt - stick drift is a known manufacturing defect and they've been pretty good about honoring replacements even slightly outside the standard warranty period, especially since you haven't abused it. Worst case they'll tell you no, but it's definitely worth asking since you've got proof of purchase!

Don't assume you're out of luck just because you're past 6 months - Sony's standard warranty is typically a full year, so you should still be covered for a defect like stick drift that happened on its own. Contact Sony support with your receipt and explain what happened; they'll either repair or replace it. Keep in mind that policies can vary by region, so your mileage might differ depending on where you bought it, but it's definitely worth trying before you give up on it.
