Electric cars do skip oil changes and have way fewer moving parts to wear out, which genuinely saves money on routine stuff like brake fluid flushes and spark plugs. The trade-off is that battery degradation is real over time, and when it happens the repair bill can be brutal - though most warranties cover it for years - plus tires wear faster because EVs are heavier, and any electrical work tends to be pricey since fewer shops know how to handle them.
If you're keeping the car long-term and driving a lot, the maintenance savings are legit, but it's not like you're suddenly free from repair costs. Just different ones.
