It's not that they look good on everyone, but it's also not true that you have to give them up if you don't have a "model" body. I for example have a pretty pronounced butt and full thighs, and I thought high-waisted jeans would flatten everything! But nope, I only figured that out by trying them on: the fabric matters more (if it's stretchy) and whether the waistband isn't too stiff. With the right jeans that follow your curves instead of fighting them, high-waisted actually gives me an insane comfort feeling and I feel more "contained" without them being tight. The truth is it's worth trying, but not just grabbing the first pair you find.
