I think it depends on the area, but LinkedIn today is way stronger for actually getting a job, especially if you want direct contact with recruiters. Catho still works, but it's more limited - I'd keep both updated without making a fuss about it, since it doesn't cost anything, but I'd focus more energy on LinkedIn if you've been looking for 3 months.

Keep both of them! It's not "either/or", it's "both/and" for real. Catho might be less hyped up, but there's still people recruiting there, especially at medium and smaller companies that aren't as deep into the LinkedIn hype. The advantage is you're competing with fewer people on Catho - there's less profile activity there regularly, so when you show up with a well-filled resume, you really stand out.

What I see a lot is that experienced recruiters use LinkedIn for active search (that thing of filtering, finding people who are actually looking), but a lot of companies still post jobs on Catho too because it's cheaper and attracts more focused people. It's kind of become complementary really. If you've had success on Catho before, don't abandon it - just don't drop your focus on LinkedIn because yeah, the recruiting movement there is way bigger and you can get direct contact with people who are specifically looking.

Spend a few minutes every week updating both, but put most of your energy into LinkedIn - customize your profile well, activate your job-seeking status, connect with recruiters and managers in your field. And don't let Catho die on the vine, because there's still good job postings there that don't show up anywhere else!

Catho still works, but the truth is the market has changed quite a bit. Most medium and large companies, especially the ones that pay better, go straight to LinkedIn because that's where the professional network is really concentrated. On Catho you see more SMEs, regional companies, and some from more specific sectors.

I'd say the ideal thing is to keep both active, but put your main effort into LinkedIn. It's not that Catho is outdated, it's just that a lot of recruiters have already moved on. It's worth having a solid LinkedIn profile with a decent photo, a summary that catches attention, and responding to the job postings that come up and maybe even messaging recruiters in your field directly. On Catho it's still worth updating your CV if you have time, but I'd say it's secondary now compared to LinkedIn. Then, with the pandemic and remote work, LinkedIn became even more the place where things happen because it lets you see much better who works where and who knows who.
