If you want to get away from the mainstream stuff, it's worth checking out regional scenes too - Munich, Berlin, and Hamburg each have their own artists who don't get pushed through every playlist. Artists like Haiyti or younger names from smaller labels often bring more experimental beats and more honest lyrics without falling into that chaotic cloud rapper style. Sometimes it also helps to just stick with one album and listen through it a few times instead of always jumping to the next track - that's when you actually notice where the quality is.

Get away from the same old names - check out people like Crack Ignaz, Schwesta Ewza, or even older underground stuff from Juse Ju, who's still putting out good material. If you want something more solid, without too much SoundCloud chaos: Zugezogen Maskulin are still doing interesting stuff, and Bene from the scene has evolved too. You might also do better with Alligatoah if the balance between quality and a less polished sound matters to you.

Forget all those "Best of" playlists on Spotify, they always play the same tracks anyway. Try checking out individual producers or beatmakers instead and see who works with them - that way you'll often find smaller names who actually deliver solid stuff. Stuka (did mostly underground stuff for a while) and people like Teakrastas or Genetikk put out regular tracks that don't sound as mainstream-ready as the usual fare. If you want to dig even deeper, just look at the features on tracks you like - you'll quickly stumble across names that'll take you further 🎤

Check out Ezhel if you want something with substance - the guy has a completely different approach than all these trap rappers and regularly puts out interesting stuff. On top of what others have already mentioned, I'd also suggest Capo, who likes to work more experimentally and less by the book.

The thing is, a lot of talented artists don't get pushed on the big platforms because the algorithms just keep betting on the same names. Instead of playlists, I'd recommend checking out "reaction" videos from established rappers on YouTube - they often shout out underground guys they like, and honestly that's usually a more reliable source than Spotify. You could also dive into the SoundCloud scene, but filter specifically by productions from well-known producers like Perugino or Jahjah - that way you'll find quality stuff faster instead of having to wade through all the chaotic sound.
