Does anyone else think Margot Robbie should've gotten an Oscar nomination?

I totally get where you're coming from. she's a really talented actress and that performance was solid. the oscar nominations can be pretty wild sometimes though - there's so much politics and campaigning that goes into it, plus the academy voters have their own tastes. sometimes great performances just get overlooked, it happens every year honestly. i've seen amazing actors get snubbed while other stuff wins and you're just like... really?

the thing is, a ton of really good performances don't make the cut just because there's so many films coming out. it doesn't mean her work wasn't great - it just means the voters went in a different direction that year. happens to everyone at some point. if it makes you feel better, plenty of incredible actors have never won or even gotten nominated, and their careers turned out fine. she'll probably get her shot eventually if she keeps doing good work like that.

Which 2025 film are you talking about - is it one that's already out in your region? Oscar voting happens early in the year so sometimes performances that blow up later in the release cycle get missed, which might've been the case here. If you're frustrated about snubs in general, honestly the best hack is tracking the precursor awards (Golden Globes, BAFTAs, etc.) a few months before Oscar noms drop - they're pretty reliable indicators of what'll actually get the Academy votes, and it takes some of the surprise sting out when your pick doesn't make the final list.
