It's not really a matter of choosing one or the other - it depends a lot on your commute and what you can handle day-to-day. A regular bike is cheaper, practically maintenance-free except for the basics, and great if the distance is short or the route is flat. Now, if you have to climb hills, deal with wind, or the commute is something like 15+ km, an e-bike completely changes the game - you arrive without being drenched in sweat and you can do the same thing without getting tired.

The real question is your budget and the infrastructure where you live. A decent e-bike gets expensive, and then you have to charge it at home or at work. If there's bike theft in your area, that weighs a lot too - a regular bike is easier to replace. But if you can park it somewhere safe and the battery has the range for your round trip, you save yourself from arriving all sweaty and you save time.

My suggestion? Test out a rental e-bike for a week or borrow one from someone before you spend the money. Sometimes we think we need the expensive version, but a fixed bike that's properly adjusted solves the problem. If the commute is just a few kilometers, it's not worth the investment; if it's long and you have hills, then yeah, it's worth it.
