Engine consuming too much oil between services, is that normal?

I have a 2022 Fiat 500 and I've noticed that the oil level drops quite a bit between services, like almost half a liter every 5,000 km. I don't see any leaks under the car and I don't notice any smoke from the exhaust. Is it normal for it to consume that much or could it be a problem?

Don't wait until the next service if you notice this consumption - check the oil level every couple of weeks. Half a liter every 5,000 km isn't normal on a relatively new 500 - it should drop much less if you don't have any visible leaks. It could be premature wear on the piston rings, gasket issues, or simply a manufacturing defect that warranty should cover. Go to the dealer before the engine suffers more serious damage.

A 2022 Fiat 500 that's burning through half a liter every 5,000 km is definitely way off. On a car that new, oil consumption should be minimal - like maybe a deciliter or so between services, nothing more. The fact that you're not seeing leaks underneath and there's no smoke is weird because those are usually the most obvious signs, but that doesn't rule out the problem.

It could be worn piston rings (bizarre for a four-year-old car, but it happens), internal seals, or something more sneaky like a microscopic internal leak that doesn't leave obvious traces. What I'd say is take it to a Fiat dealer fairly soon, don't wait until your next service - get a diagnostic check done. If it's still under warranty, they'll fix it for free. Keep track of your consumption from now until the check, so you've got actual numbers to show them.

Half a liter every 5,000 km on a 2022 Fiat 500 is definitely unusual, but before you worry too much, check whether the oil level might have already been a bit high at your last service - sometimes mechanics overfill it and what you're seeing as "consumption" is actually just it normalizing. If you're sure you started from the correct level, though, then yeah, something's wrong: it could be internal combustion (rings or valves), a small leak you can't see (like from the head gasket), or even just oil degrading quickly - normally on a car this new you should only need a few deciliters between services. Take it to a Fiat dealer and have them check the engine, especially if it's still under warranty.
