I have the first book of a fantasy series that I read in 2024 but now I'm lost with the characters and the plot. I don't want to start from the beginning because it took me forever to finish it, but I also don't see myself reading summaries online. What do you guys do in these situations?
How hooked were you on that first book when you finished it? If it was a drag to get through, starting the trilogy from scratch is probably your best bet because at least this time you'll know what to expect from the pacing and characters, so the second book will grab you faster. What I'd do is just reread the last few chapters of the first one, like the last 20-30 pages, to refresh your memory without diving back into the whole thing. If even that doesn't get you excited, honestly there's nothing wrong with dropping the trilogy and reading something else that speaks to you right now.
