Over the past year I've been watching more and more artists use neural networks to generate ideas or as a base for their paintings. I'm trying to figure out myself whether I should be worried about competing with AI or if it's just a new tool, like Photoshop was back in the day?
I think neural networks are not quite the same as Photoshop, because the tool used to amplify the author's skills, but here a lot of people just click a button and pass off the result as art. That's where the real difference is: if an artist uses a neural network as a foundation that they then refine, reinterpret, add their own vision to - that works, that becomes a tool. But if it's just "I typed in a prompt and posted it" - that's not competition for you, because it won't be perceived the same way as work from a master's hand.
