How do I address gaps in my resume without getting rejected right away?

I had a year and a half period where I didn't work because I was physically and mentally unwell. Now that I'm doing better, I want to start looking again, but I don't know how to justify this gap in my CV without recruiters immediately thinking I'm unreliable. What do I say in interviews?

don't make a big deal out of it, just put "personal leave" or "period of reorganization" on your CV and that's it - people understand that things happen in life. in interviews if they ask you about it (and many won't even do that) you say you dealt with a situation that needed your attention and now you're ready to get back on track, without going into medical details that aren't their business. focus everything on what you're capable of doing now, not on what you didn't do back then - serious recruiters look at the present and your potential, they're not looking for excuses to turn you down.
