In reviews, look for specific mentions of noise, especially from people who stayed in rooms in the city center or higher up - their reviews tend to be more unbiased than ground-level ones. Request a room away from the elevator, restaurant, and main entrance, in the far corner of the corridor; if the hotel allows you to add notes during booking - write about it. It's also worth looking at three-star hotels and above, since they usually take construction more seriously, though the price is higher.
