How do I stop YouTube from recommending so many videos from the same channel?

I've been watching tech videos for weeks and YouTube is flooding my home feed with content from just one creator. I've already clicked "not interested" on several videos but they keep showing up. Is there any way to diversify my recommendations without stopping watching that kind of content?

The "Not interested" option doesn't always work as well as it should, but in your case it could be that the algorithm already associates it too much with your profile. What's worked best for me is actively searching for other tech channels and watching their videos all the way through, without skipping them after five seconds, because YouTube sees that as genuine interest. You can also try clearing your watch history (Settings > History > Clear all watch history) if you want to reset your recommendations a bit, even though you'll lose some personalization. And if all else fails, there's the option of not using the home feed for a while and searching for content directly, but that's more of a hassle than anything.

The exact same thing happened to me a while back. I was watching a tech channel and suddenly my feed just filled up with that creator, like YouTube decided that was my entire world. The "not interested" option you mentioned doesn't always work well because the algorithm's already decided that channel is your thing. What really helped me was actively engaging with other tech channels: when I see a video from another creator covering similar topics, I like it, leave a genuine comment, and add some to my "Watch later" list. YouTube starts to understand that you're interested in the content but not exclusively that channel.

Another thing that works pretty well is cleaning up your history a bit. You don't need to delete everything, but if you go to your history and remove the last few videos from that creator you watched, the algorithm kind of resets and stops being so obsessive with recommendations. After that, when you search for tech videos, try mixing it up: sometimes search directly by topic (like "processor reviews" or "laptop reviews") instead of just browsing recommendations. You can also follow other channels on YouTube so they show up mixed in on your home feed. And honestly, sometimes just ignoring those recommended videos and clicking on something else also trains the algorithm little by little, though it takes longer.
