How do I structure my CV if I've been working as a freelancer?

I've been freelancing for three years doing consulting work, but now I want to get into a big company. The problem is I don't know how to present this on my CV so it doesn't look like I don't have 'real' experience or that I'm missing something. Should I list each project as if it were a job position?

Self-employment experience is just as valid as any formal job, so don't be afraid to present it that way. I'd put an "Experience" section where you summarize your consulting work as a single position (something like "Independent Consultant, 2023-2026") and then in the description list the types of projects you did, the most important clients if it's relevant, and what results you achieved - that's what really interests big companies.

If some projects were particularly large or complex, of course you can highlight them, but you don't need to list each one as if it were a different job. What matters is showing that you handled serious responsibilities, met deadlines, and generated value, and that looks better in a coherent summary than in a bunch of scattered lines.
