Doctors usually say that if nothing's coming out for more than three days straight, that's already a reason to check yourself out. But the key thing isn't really about the number of days, it's more about whether your stomach hurts, whether there's pain when you try or you're going to the bathroom but nothing's happening. If constipation lasts a week or longer, or if you've got blood in your stool along with it or severe pain - that's when you definitely need to see a doctor, don't put it off. And you should also figure out whether this is new for you or chronic - chronic constipation needs a different approach than a one-time thing after traveling or changing your diet.

I'd add that three days is really just a guideline, but everyone's body is different. For me, for example, my normal rhythm was once every two days, and when it stretched to a week with belly pain and bloating, I realized something was off. Turned out it was my diet and not drinking enough water. Now I keep an eye on it and adjust what I eat as soon as I notice any discomfort.

The main thing is not just to count the days, but to listen to your body: if you're feeling pain, bloating, general malaise, or you notice blood, that's a sign to see a doctor, even if it's only been a couple of days 😊
