How much water should you drink daily?

I'm trying to pay more attention to my health and I read that you're supposed to drink at least 2 liters of water a day. But somehow I can't manage it because plain water is just too boring for me. Is it enough if I drink less or if I count tea toward that?

It depends on your weight and activity level, 2 liters is just a rough rule of thumb - some people need less, some need more. Tea and other drinks count toward that, so you don't have to drink only plain water, even though water is obviously the best option.

How much are you drinking at the moment when you're not consciously paying attention to it?

The whole 2 liters thing is really just a rule of thumb that works for many people, but not for everyone. Your body simply needs fluids - whether they come from water, tea, coffee, or even soup doesn't matter to your body. Tea definitely counts, just like water from fruit and vegetables. If plain water bores you, you can easily combine it with drinks you actually like. You can drink less if you're not doing a lot of exercise or sweating in the heat - you'll feel when you're thirsty anyway.

The practical trick: instead of forcing yourself to drink two liters of plain water, just always carry a bottle with you. It can be tea (great cold in summer too), water with lemon, or even juice mixed with sparkling water. The important thing is that you're drinking something continuously, not that you suddenly down three liters all at once. If you've got the bottle in sight, you'll automatically drink more without torturing yourself.
