How often should you change your face towel?
I heard that using the same towel for more than 2-3 days is bad for your skin. Is that true or just marketing? And what if I don't do laundry that often?

I used to have acne problems, and I noticed: when I use the same towel for more than a week, everything gets worse. But it's not because two days is some magic threshold - it's just that the towel gets wet and becomes the perfect home for bacteria. If you have normal skin and dry your face quickly (don't leave it wet on your face), then 3-4 days is totally fine, as long as the towel dries well between uses. And if you don't do laundry often, just keep a few towels on hand so you can rotate them.
It's not exactly that it's harmful - it really depends on the circumstances. Face towels accumulate bacteria, dead skin cells, and moisture, but one or two days of use usually isn't enough for that to become a noticeable problem. If you have sensitive skin, acne, or are prone to irritation, it's better to change it every day or even after each use. But if your skin is normal and healthy, a couple of days isn't critical - the main thing is that the towel has time to dry between uses.
There's definitely some marketing involved here: towel manufacturers have an interest in getting you to change them more often. But there's a grain of truth to it - a damp towel that hasn't dried out is a breeding ground for all kinds of stuff. So try to hang it in a way that it dries properly instead of getting bunched up in the bathroom.
If you don't wash frequently, just get more towels - at least three or four. Use one per day and they have time to dry, then wash them all together. It's more practical than trying to wring out the same towel every day.
Separate towels for your face and body - that's a really simple solution if you don't do laundry often. Face towels get dirty much faster because facial skin is more delicate and more susceptible to bacteria, so you can wash them separately even if the rest of your laundry is still clean - usually one wash a week is enough for two or three face towels.
The most practical thing is to keep a small hook or towel bar under the sink so the towel dries between uses; a damp towel deteriorates way faster than a dry one. If you don't do laundry often, just shorten the washing interval specifically for face towels - they take up hardly any space. Two or three days for a dry towel isn't critical, but if it stays damp, bacteria multiply much more actively, and that's when you'll actually start having skin problems.
