How often should you water an apple tree in summer?

We have a three-year-old apple tree in our garden that I planted last year. This summer was brutally hot and dry. I water it pretty thoroughly about twice a week, but I'm not sure if that's enough or if I'm doing something wrong.

With heat that extreme like we've had this summer, watering two to three times a week is totally fine - what matters is that the water soaks in deep and the soil doesn't dry out completely. With a younger tree you should be more generous than stingy 💧 Just check if the top couple centimetres of soil are still moist, and you're doing everything right!
