How to get rid of shine on your face during the day without powder?

My nose and forehead are constantly shiny even after I apply foundation. I'm looking for a way that doesn't dry out my skin and doesn't clog my pores. Maybe there's some kind of spray or blotting papers that actually work?

Blotting sheets or oil-absorbing papers are genuinely an effective solution. I use them throughout the day and just blot my forehead and nose without pressing hard so I don't smudge my makeup. Some are even infused with beneficial ingredients, so they don't irritate your skin at all. The key is to blot rather than rub away the excess oil. It takes half a minute, but the result lasts several hours.

A mattifying mist spray can help too, though there's more variety here. Some literally just set your makeup without much effect, while others actually do slightly reduce shine. The upside of sprays is that they refresh your face and don't mess up your makeup application - you just spritz from a distance. The downside is the effect doesn't last as long as with blotting sheets, so you often need to reapply.

If you're getting a lot of shine even with foundation, it's worth checking whether the foundation itself is right for your skin type. It might be too nourishing for you, and it could make sense to try a formula with a mattifying effect or one designed for oily skin. But if your foundation is fine, blotting sheets plus a spray in your bag - that's your lifesaver for the whole day without powder.

A makeup setting spray is honestly a lifesaver! I used to struggle with constant shine too, until I tried a fixing spray. The thing is, it works all day long and doesn't dry out your skin if you pick the right one - something with glycerin or hyaluronate in it. You just spray it after your foundation, and your coverage stays way more stable. Plus, your face looks matte but not tight.

A good combo is spray plus blotting sheets for those urgent moments. By the way, blotting sheets come in different types too: regular mattifying papers made from compressed cellulose, or special ones with minerals - those don't mess up your makeup as much and even help kind of smooth it back into place! The key thing is to blot, not rub.

One more tip from my own experience: apply a mattifying primer before your foundation, specifically for problem areas (nose, forehead, chin). Once I started doing that - the combo of primer plus setting spray gave me way better staying power! The shine doesn't completely disappear, but it becomes way less noticeable, and I can go through the whole day without constantly stressing about checking the mirror.
