I've got about 50 Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars stuffed in shoe boxes scattered around the house. My girlfriend says I should sell them all, but I love taking them out and looking at them. What do you guys recommend for displaying them properly without them getting so dusty? Is it worth spending money on display cases or is that just throwing money away?
Dust gets into any cabinet if it's not properly sealed, so before you spend money check that the doors close tight - there are some cheap ones that end up with gaps all over the place and they're useless. If you take them out a lot to look at them, a cabinet with tempered glass or acrylic is definitely worth it, but it doesn't need to be expensive; check out the ones at IKEA or similar places that go for reasonable prices and do the job. The important thing is that it works for you, not to impress your girlfriend - if you really want to display them and enjoy looking at them, then the investment makes sense.
Glass or acrylic door display cases are worth it if you're actually gonna look at them regularly - they protect from dust and look way better than in boxes, plus your girlfriend complains less when they're organized in one spot. If you don't wanna spend much, there are cheap options (shelves with dividers or stackable acrylic boxes) that do the job without breaking the bank.
