At my place, panettone never makes it to November because we finish it in December, but if someone has leftovers and wants to eat it later, there's nothing wrong with that. The only thing is that around November it starts to dry out a bit if you don't keep it sealed properly, but a couple of weeks after December it still holds up fine.

No, there's nothing wrong with eating panettone in November. It's just a sweet like any other, and there's no written rule that says "you can only eat it in December." If you feel like it, eat it whenever you want. Sure, it's true that it's traditionally a Christmas dessert and most people associate it with the holiday season, but that doesn't mean it's wrong to try it earlier.

The only thing you might consider is whether you can find it easily: stores start selling it more toward November-December, so in October it might be hard to track down. But if you can find it, go for it. Some people eat it in other months without any problems - maybe they buy it when it's on sale after the holidays. When are you thinking of eating it, in November or are you trying to figure out if it's worth waiting?

sara_romano asker In November it's perfectly fine, I don't wait for December. If I find it in the store, I buy it right away.

Eating panettone in November is totally fine, it just depends on when you buy it and how you store it. The trick nobody mentions is that if you grab one in September or October, throw it in the freezer in an airtight container and it'll last easily until January without getting dry - that way you skip the December rush and eat it whenever you actually feel like it. What matters is that it's fresh when you buy it, not that you stick to some specific calendar.

Panettone lasts quite a while if you store it properly, so technically you can eat it in November without any issues. The only real risk is that after a month or two it starts to lose that soft texture that makes it enjoyable - it becomes drier and more compact. If you buy it in September and throw it in the freezer right away, you can take it out whenever you want without it going bad, but at room temperature it loses a lot after a few weeks.
