Is it still useful to use a physical dictionary for learning languages?

I have an English-Spanish dictionary from years ago that I was given back in high school, and I was wondering if it's still worth consulting or if I should switch completely to Google Translate and online spell checkers. My academy teacher used to say it was better for memorizing words, but I'm not sure if that's still valid in 2026.

Don't give all the credit to Google Translate because it'll throw context errors at you that aren't as obvious online, but your old dictionary isn't the magic solution it used to be either. The best thing is to mix them: use the dictionary when you really need to understand a word deeply (its form, variations, examples), and Google for quick checks or when you're in a hurry.
