Those cheap portable machines are pretty flimsy and tend to break down fast, especially if you're just starting out. If it's just for some basic adjustments like hemming or fixing loose seams, it works, but if you're planning to sew more regularly or with thicker fabrics, you're going to get frustrated. It's worth saving up a bit more and getting a regular Singer tabletop machine instead - they last way longer and give you much better control. The difference is like 100-150 euros, but the durability makes up for it.
