My LG washer from 2014 just stopped spinning properly and a repair person quoted me $280 to fix the belt and pulley. Should I just bite the bullet and replace it, or is that a reasonable repair for a machine this age?
I'd say go for the repair! $280 is totally reasonable for a belt and pulley job on a 12-year-old washer, especially an LG which tends to be solid machines. If the rest of it's running fine, that repair should buy you another good chunk of time before you have to think about replacement. New washers are expensive and honestly, fixing stuff instead of tossing it is so much more satisfying!
