It really depends on how you use the lights at home, to be honest. If you're someone who comes home late and wants them to turn on automatically when you arrive, or if you've got a big house and you're tired of going around flipping switches, then yeah, it's worth it because you'll thank yourself every day. The problem is, if you just want them to change color once in a while, well meh, you'll end up using the basic function 95% of the time and you'll have wasted money for nothing! My advice is to start with one or two bulbs in the areas where you'd use them most, and if you see they actually make your life easier then gradually expand, because the upfront cost is brutal but the integration with your phone and everything else works pretty well.

Philips Hue bulbs are pricey because of the technology, but if you just want to control brightness and color from your phone without being stuck next to a wall switch, honestly the generic smart bulbs for 15-20 euros (the ones that work with Alexa or Google Home) do pretty much the same thing and you save a ton of money. What nobody mentions is that you can just get one or two Hue bulbs for the places where it really bugs you to get up and turn the light off (like your nightstand) and leave the rest with regular bulbs, so you spend way less and test out if it's actually convenient or if you end up not using them. That said, if your buddies let you mess around with theirs for a bit at their places before you buy, that'll help you decide better than anything you read online.

I've got some Hue bulbs at my place and honestly, after the first month you use them way less than you think, especially if you live alone. If you want to save money, better off investing in one or two smart bulbs for where you actually need them (like your bedside lamp) and leave the rest normal, because 80 euros per bulb is a lot when they do the same thing as a regular bulb at the end of the day.
