I have an iPhone 12 that still works fine but the battery is starting to go. The 16 has that 48-megapixel camera and got cheaper since the 17 came out - not sure whether to grab it or pay extra for the 17.
I don't think a 48-megapixel camera is reason enough to drop 1200 bucks if your iPhone 12 is still running fine, though I get the temptation because I have a similar obsession with shows and always want the latest gadget. The battery is what's really pushing you to upgrade, but if it can last a couple more months, wait for the 17 because Apple generally throws in more substantial improvements between generations than just megapixels. If I were you, I'd upgrade when the battery becomes unbearable, not just because a new model came out.
