Don't overwater it - that's the most common mistake. Jade plants are succulents and store water in their leaves, so too much moisture leads to root rot and then the leaves drop off. Only water when the soil is completely dry, and make sure the pot has a drainage hole.

Check the conditions: light is important, too little of it makes the plant weak and it loses leaves. Put it in a bright spot, ideally with direct sunlight. Jade plants also don't like drafts and cold temperatures - if it's sitting next to a heater or in a draft, that can cause leaf drop too. Also check for pests like spider mites, which can be hard to spot but dry out the leaves.

If a lot of leaves are already gone, trim back the bare sections and just give the plant time. They grow slowly, but they recover in most cases if the basic conditions are right. Repotting it into fresh, loose soil (cactus or succulent soil) often helps too, especially if the old soil has become compacted.
