Before you start tinkering with the cylinder head or valves, get the spark plugs and air filter checked first - that causes those kinds of jerks way more often. If those are fine, valve problems could actually be behind it, but you'd usually notice that at idle too or hear a clatter.
The previous answer is right, but it's also worth checking the fuel pump and fuel filter - if there's contamination or pressure issues there, you'll notice it as jerking when accelerating before you even have to touch the cylinder head. Just swapping out the filter or testing the pump with a pressure gauge is way cheaper and faster than anything else 😊 If the problem is still there after that, you can always move on to the finer engine stuff.
