I have a Lenovo laptop with 8GB of RAM and whenever I try to work with Excel while I have Chrome open everything freezes up. Yesterday I spent an hour waiting for it to respond. What's the problem?
With 8GB of RAM and Chrome open, Excel runs out of available memory because Chrome eats up a lot, especially if you have several tabs. The first thing I'd do is check how much RAM each program is using: open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), see what's hogging resources, and try closing the Chrome tabs you're not using. If it still freezes, consider upgrading your RAM to 16GB (it's pretty cheap) or using a lighter version of Chrome or even switching to Edge, which generally uses less.
